A Wonderful 4th of July

For the 4th of July we decided to go on vacation. We had heard about KOA and that they have air conditioned cabins, since you don't want to camp in a tent in Texas after April. We chose a camp ground East of Dallas and were on our way. We had some fun adventures on the way, like the van overheating, waiting for a tow truck in the Texas heat, and getting a rental car, but we reached our destination and settled in for 3 days. The main draw to this camp ground was the pool. From the picture you can see how awesome it was. We spent anywhere from 2-4 hours in it everyday and the kids loved every minute of it. Hunter learned to swim with a floaty and Rachel learned to swim underwater. The older boys and Mom and Dad would play basketball in the pool or dive for dive sticks. It was great to see us all have so much fun

Our cabin was on a man made lake which was full of fish and Turtles. The kids loved watching them swim and eat all of the bugs. The sun sets from the porch were awesome as most Texas sunsets are. We even saw a woodpecker in the tree next to our cabin. On the 4th of July they had a firework show over the lake so we just sat around roasting hotdogs, making smores, and watching foreworks. It was great! Here are some pictures.

Woodpecker- look really close in the center, he is there!
Rachel decided that we should move into that cabin and the kids still talk about the trip. We were able to relax and enjoy each other as a family which we haven't done for a few years. We enjoyed ourselves so much I think we will make it a yearly occurrence!
